Unable to unlock a partially bitlocker encrypted external hard drive
I own an external hard drive of 500GB Seagate Go in which i have stored many valuable data. While encrypting this drive accidentally the laptop {in which i am using Windows7) went off the encryption was 14% done and the drive was set to auto-unlock on my
laptop. when i restarted the my laptop was unable to unlock the drive (It's reading the drive but not showing on windows explorer and i tried to mange it from bitlocker drive encryption in control panel but bitlocker stopped responding) so I tried to unlock
this on my friend's computer but again the same thing happened after that i tried other steps from

suppose the other information needed are as follows:
BitLocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key
The recovery key is used to recover the data on a BitLocker protected drive.
To verify that this is the correct recovery key compare the identification with what is presented on the recovery screen.

It looks like the encryption process never completed.
Open elevated command prompt:
>manage-bde -status D:
where D is the drive letter.
To unlock the volume try this
>manage-bde -unlock D: -pw
Type Enter and if it prompts for password supply that
To unlock the volume using 48 digit recovery password try this
>manage-bde -unlock D: -rp 002222-524418-454245-683046-498575-639173-447513-068464

Hey Manoj
Yeah you are right the encryption never completed. I tried your suggestion but whenever I press enter a white cursor blinks n nothing else this same thing happened when i tried the previous steps. Hope you can help me with that. One more thing the
drive was working fine in the partial encryption mode when it wasn't set to auto unlock. Thanks for suggestion and time.

You have to tell me what happens when you run the below commands.
Open elevated command prompt:
Did you try to turn off encryption by using this command.
>manage-bde -off d:
where D is the drive letter.
>manage-bde -status D:
where D is the drive letter.
To unlock the volume try this
>manage-bde -unlock D: -pw
Type Enter and if it prompts for password supply that
To unlock the volume using 48 digit recovery password try this
>manage-bde -unlock D: -rp 002222-524418-454245-683046-498575-639173-447513-068464
If none of these work for you then use repair-bde command to get the data from the volume.
Attach a 500GB external portable disk same size as your original disk.
>repair-bde D: G: -rp 002222-524418-454245-683046-498575-639173-447513-068464 -f -lf c:\log.txt
where D is the original Disk
and G is the drive new portable disk.
