Unable to share file from vista to xp
Hi, This is my first post. I have two laptops with me. I tried to connect two laptops with a cable and one laptop is having Windows XP and another one is Windows Vista. When I tried to connect and share the file I couldn't. Xp is able to connect to vista but vista is not even able to recognize the XP. I tried to download the LLTD which was posted in some forums , disabled the firewall in both the laptops. Computer A which was having Windows XP was able to ping and get the file from vista, But Computer B which is vista is not able to ping the Computer A which is having XP Please help me in this.

Hi, I suggest checking the following: 1. Ensure that you are using a cross-over cable to connect the computers. For more information, refer to the session How Do I Connect Two PCs Together in the following article:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/russel_hni.mspx 2. Ensure that the IP addresses assigned to the computers are in the same IP subnet. 3. Ensure that the firewall is disabled on the Windows XP computer. After that, on the Windows Vista machine, open Command Prompt with Run as Administrator, type the command arp d * and press Enter. Now, try to ping the Windows XP machine and check the result. If the issue persists, please let me know the output.
