Unable to see workgroup computers or print server from my HP laptop, but I can ping everything and access the internet through the router.
I have an HP laptop running XP pro. I have a network with 2 laptops (HP and Dell), 1 desktop, and 1 DLINK DP300U print server with a static IP. I am using a LINKSYS WRT110 router. Everything is connected through this router. I can ping ALL of the laptops, the desktop, and the print server. I can access the internet from any of the laptops and the desktop. ALL MACHINES are in the same workgoup. Only from my DESKTOP (XP HOME) I can click on MY NETWORK PLACES, click VIEW WORKGROUP COMPUTERS and I can see the other compters and the print server. However, from my Dell laptop or HP LAPTOP (XP PRO) I can PING the router and log into it, all the other machines, and the print server but CANNOT SEE THE OTHER COMPUTERS OR ACCESS THEM from the HP LAPTOP or the other laptop. I have disabled all firewalls, and McAfee firewalls (HP LAPTOP) and still no joy. I think there is a box checked somewhere or one that is checked that shouldn't, but I cannot figure out where it is or where else to look. Any ideas would be appreciated.1 person needs an answerI do too
