hi, i had a dell computer running windows xp, but it got a virus. lots of my files i could see, but the icons were kind of opaque - they were there, but i couldn't open them. so, after so much frustration i bought a new dell computer running windows7, which i am still getting used to. anyway, i connected my external hardrive to transfer all my files to the new machine and the properties are registering that there are over 100 gbs of files there, but explorer says that there are none, and i cannot see them to open them - crazy! can anyone help, please? katy

in explorer, go to organize -> folder and search options -> view tab -> and select show hidden files and folders. does this make your files appear?
