Unable to see Previous Versions on CIFS share
Our shares reside on NetApp storage using CIFS. Daily snapshots are taken of the shared volumes. Those snapshots appear in the Previous Versions tab of the folders' Properties. At least they do in Vista and XP. Windows 7 just displays the message "There are no previous versions available". We have tried this on two different Windows 7 workstations. Is this a known issue? If so is there a work around to the problem?

It doesn't appear anyone has a fix for this. Is there a way to submit bugs for Windows 7? I attemped the suggestion here to submit a bug however I was not able to log in ... http://www.itsmywindows.com/how-to-report-bugs-on-windows-7-rcThis is definately a show-stopper for our environment.

As this is a Release candidate (and it clearly states on the download site to never use in a production environment) you should only use Windows 7 at this stage on test machines, or virtual machines.

This is on a test machine. And this issue needs to be fixed before Win 7 goes RTM. How do you submit a bug or is this a known issue?

Yes and I was unable to send the error because it says my LiveID doesn't have permission.

Is that the same LiveId you downloaded the RC with?

This problem still exists with Windows 7 RTM. Unable to use Previous Versions on a NetApp CIFS share. They work fine with XP, Vista, and 2008 however.

There's a fix in the works for this issue on Netapp filers. It is issue (BURT) 373136. If you have a case open with Netapp, make sure to refer to that BURT, and have your case/system added to the fix list. It should be fixed soon, hopefully around the time that Windows 7 goes live. Note that it shouldn't be a show-stopper per se: You can still browse from Windows Explorer to the ~snapshot directory, find the files there, and restore that way (just like as can be done for any version of Windows/CIFS-based shares).
