Hi all. I'm runningWindows 7 build 7600 with UAC enabled. I've successfully mapped a drive to an administrative share on an XP Pro box. When I try toMerge that .reg file from the shared folder, all goes well - UAC prompts me and I accept, then regedit prompts me and I accept - but then I get an error:"Cannot import xxx.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error."However, if I copy the .reg file locally (to my Documents folder), the Merge completes successfully.Anybody have any ideas how I can fix this?TIA

Thanks very much for the link since it contains the reg hack I need to disble this "behavior".<rant>I understand the intent, but thisimplementation isidiotic!Here's the scenario: I've mapped a network location under my profile, and had to authenticate to that location. This makes sense so far - authentication should be required. BUT. Even though I mapped that drive, I then get warnings when running things from the mapped location.I can turn off thiswarning bychanging the Local Intranet Sites to NOT automatically detect intranet sites and turn on all 3 includes. At least I can turn this off.Now I get this. Even though UAC prompts me, and I accept, the merge still fails! I get around it by copying the file locally, without any warnings at all, including UAC. So how did this behavior in fact protect me at all???Sometimes Microsoft's ideas of security astound and befuddle me.</rant>Thanks again, Mr. Zhang!
