Unable to log in to Buffalo Linkstation using Windows 7 Pro
I have tried to access my Buffalo Linkstation via Windows 7 Network window to open it up and browse the files, but I get a log on pop-up dialogue asking me for a Username and Password. I have entered the admin username/password pair, and also tried both User's username/password pairs and I still cannot log on. I am able to access the Linkstation via my browser using the drive's name and log on with no problems using the admin username/password.
I am not sure if the "domain" designation is causing a problem, so I tried a couple of variations of usernames as follows:
For the username I tried:
DRIVENAME/Username
//DRIVENAME/Username
//[IP Address]/Username
Username
When I try just the username, the dialogue comes back with the COMPUTERNAME/Username entered into the username field and tells me that its a bad password. Is this domain name thing causing the problem???
I appreciate any help I can get with this problem. I have also seen another similar thread on this topic, but it seemed to be addressing a slightly different problem.
Thanks again in advance for all responses.

Hi,
I suspect this issue is related to the security settings of the files. Please double check them.
Just for a test, please try the domain administrator’s account and password to see if it works.
In addition, please also try the methods of the following Knowledge Base:
Error message when you try to access an administrative share on a Windows Vista-based computer from another Windows Vista-based computer that is a member of a workgroup: "Logon unsuccessful: Windows is unable to log you on"
Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi South Park,
From Buffalo's support site: http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10010&category_id=0&sid2=
Do this:
click the start button and type secpol.msc in the search function. Select the app from the results. Browse to "Local Policies" -> "Security Options". Now look for the entry "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level" and open it. (double click) Click on the dropdown menu and select "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Apply the settings. (click OK)
close out and test access.
Did that help?
