Unable to install updates KB979909, KB982168 & KB982524, driving me nuts. Cant get rid of the annoying yellow shield, and tries to download these updates everytime I shut my pc down.

These groups are full of NetFramework update failure posts, some have answers, otherwise MS provides free email support for Critical update problems
