Installing local printer on Dell Optiplex 760 and 780 computers. Cannot find Drivers, went to HP website to see, none found. All drivers for printer I am trying to install are not supported by HP anymore. I cannot get Windows updates through our Proxy Server. Add Printer --> Add a local printer --> LPT1 --> Windows Update --> cannot download updates at this time. try back later. Another way I tried to get the drivers is going to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ and searching, I find the drivers, extract drivers, and hit "Have Disk" and point it to driver for printer get error code 0x0000002. Is there another way to install printers, or am I installing printer driver wrong from MS Update Catalog? Please HELP !?!

What is the model of the printer? Did you download the driver that is indicated to be compatible with Windows 7? Additionally, you need to point to the correct *.inf folder. If there are multiple files, try them one by one. I have tried that already, I pressed have disk icon in adding a printer, I have tried to right click and install *inf file, nothing has seemed to work, I am thinking when we build the image taking it to a non proxy source download the drivers through windows update and then send the image up to the server. Cannot think of another way to install printers.REC
