Unable to install a printer through a network; requires correct driver to be installed.
I was recently having trouble with my printer so I removed and have reinstalled the software. The printer is now working fine on the Host computer network. I just made a home network and I want to share a computer, I have already checked the box on the printer properties to allow printer sharing. I wanted to add my printer to the other computer through the network from my computer but it wouldn't allow me. I tried to change the permission settings but there aren't any settings or tabs on the printer properties that allow me to change anything, so I went directly to the other computer and it DID let me add a computer from the network but after I selected the printer to add and clicked OK another message appeared and it said that my computer did not have the correct driver .INF installed and it asked me to browse for it. I am stuck because since it's a network computer and not the Host computer that may have the file, I don't know how to access My Computer through another computer on the network, and I also don't know the file that's being request or how to find it.*Thanks in advance for reading and the help, any insight, help, and advice is greatly appreciated! :) * Do I copy the file to the other network?Host Computer info:Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 SP2Network Computer info (one that I am trying to install printer on):Windows XP Home Edition SP2Printer Info:HP Photosmart C4180 All-In-One1 person needs an answerI do too
