Unable to find certificate to log onto network
Alright guys, I see that this is a problem that's been lingering for a while and I see that several people have described similar situations to mine, but so far I haven't found anything for solving the problem if that pesky box is unchecked. But basically our situation is this. We have a router that we've all used without troubles for more than six months on four different laptops and a desktop. Two months ago the internet provider cut the internet off but the router has been left plugged in. We've been able to access the router connection without problem. Then, last night, we got the internet hooked up again. I was able to connect to the router with my Toshiba laptop(Windows 7) and HP desktop(Windows Vista), one roommate was able to connect with her Mac laptop(heck if I know what OS), but our other roommate is getting this validating identity/can't find certificate on his Toshiba laptop(Windows XP). He's followed the given directions and when he gets to the last instruction, the box is unchecked and highlighted so you can't do anything to change it anyhow. He can connect to other signals, just not our home signal, which we've left unsecured while we try to figure this out. Someone help? We're open to suggestions here.1 person needs an answerI do too

We're open to suggestions here. What were the directions that were followed? What is "the last instruction?"Do you mean the checkbox to "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network"? And what do you mean by "highlighted so you can't do anything to change it"? Do you mean that it's greyed-out (see this screenshot:http://screenshots.modemhelp.net/screenshots/Windows_XP/Network_Connections/Wireless_Network_Connection/Properties/Wireless_Networks/Properties/Authentication.shtml )?Delete the entry for the network entirely and start over:Open Network Connections (Start > Run > ncpa.cpl > OK) Right-click on the icon for the wireless adapter and select Properties Click the "Wireless Networks" tab. In the list of "Preferred networks," find the entry for your router, select it, and click the Remove button. While you're here, you might as well Remove the entries for other networks you don't use.OK your way out Now go to View Wireless Networks or Show Available Networks, find your network, and click Connect.
