Unable to find any updates on a Clean installation of Windows 7.
When I click on Check for updates it scans for about 1 second and tells me that there are no updates available. Upon checking the windowupdate.log file I found the following:2009-03-1216:09:28:061 960424DtaStorFATAL: DS: 0x80248014: Failed to find requested service2009-03-1216:09:28:061 960424DtaStorFATAL: DS: 0x80248014: Failed to find requested service2009-03-1216:09:28:092 960424MiscFATAL: Assertion failed! Hi Mark,Thank you so much for your reply.I did mange to run the file but I still have the same issue. If I check for updates it checks for a second and then tells me that there are no updates avialable. I am using build 7000. I have heard that there is a build 7054 avialable. Perhaps I should try that instead.Thank you,Wesley

I had to reinstall at one point and wondered about the same thing. I just assumed the needed information was picked up. Mark I am assuming that I wouldn't need that bat. But If circumstances forced a format and clean install is it going to be useful? What does it aim to do?

Hi Wesley,The 7054 is only an interim build and won't solve things, nor is it supported on these forums. Can you manually get to:http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/as maybe you have a DNS problem?Cheers,Justin

Pracix:Have you tried Windows 7 RC? It is the latest publicly available evaluation version. Let us know if your problem is still around in Windows 7 RC.Thanks,Nick

Just wanted to link my own issue here -- the problem is the same (cant update on clean install, in this case build 7100 64bit) but the error code is not. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/9cf13593-42f2-4035-b74f-08d6838a3315
