Unable to delete folders because explorer locks thumbs.db
I am on a workgroup with Win7 Ultimate. When I try to delete photograph folders from any other machine than the machine holding all the files it presents the error: "Cannot Delete folder because Explorer Locks thumbs.DB". I have tried the different recommendations below, however nothing worked so far. Please advise. Option 1: 1. Run gpedit.msc 2. Navigate to Local Computer Policy->User Configuration->Windows Components->Windows Explorer 3. Set "Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons on network folders" to Enable. Option 2: Can't use this option because we need the use of thumbnails The workaround you suggested seems to fix the issue. Additionally, you can: * Press Alt + F, from the Windows 7 Explorer interface * Select Tools * Select Folder Options * Select the View tab * Check the box that says "Always show icons, never thumbnails" Option 3: Uninstall Adobe Acrobat

Hi, After checking this issue, I would like to confirm the following details: 1. Do you mean that the photograph folders came from other machines? 2. Did this issue occur when you delete other folders on your computer? Currently, I suggest you try the following steps to check the result: 1. Boot into Safe Mode for test. 2. Turn off Caching of Thumbnails in Hidden thumbs.db Files 1) Click the Start orb 2) Enter gpedit.msc in the search box and hit Enter. 3) Expand User Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components. 4) Click on Windows Explorer. 5) Right-click the entry "Turn off the caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files" and choose Edit. 6) Enable the setting. Hope it helps. Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
