OP: Unable to defragment my diskWhen I try to defrag using system tools, I always get a message that I have a system check about to start and have to chkdsk /f.When I try to run that I am asked if I want to change the time for it to start. Whether I say YES or NO, it makes no difference, nothing happens. I am in a time loop! Restarting makes no difference either. All the solutions being offered seem to be for Vista and I am running XP.

Hello acbcassidy,This could be caused if there are bad sectors on your hard disk. I suggest that you use a Windows XP disk and boot to recovery console and perform CHKDSK.
