Unable to create a folder with the name ending .scr

Hello All,

I was trying to build my Java base maven project. Maven was trying to download some dependencies from the repository. So one of the folder it is trying to create was "org.apache.felix.scr" - Windows is not allowing the program to create the folder with the name ending with ".scr".

Even I tried to create a folder with the name 1.scr in My Documents, it is not allowing me to create one. But If I use 1.scr.2 as the folder name, it allowed me to create one.

To me it sounds like an issue, can you please look into this as this is very urgent for me. I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise Edition 64 bit edition.

Thanks in advance.

What error is it telling you. I was able to create a folder using 1.scr on my desktop and in my documents.

Can you run a PowerShell as admin and do this: new-item c:\temp\1.csr  -type directory

Can`t see the last file you posted. But looking at the previous one we can clearly see that the folder is in use so this is why you can`t rename it. Like i said just do a reboot and rename it this is easy. You could use software process monitor to see what as the file lock.

Hi,

We hope your issue has been resolved.

I am sorry about that but I cant access the link you posted, the webpage prompt that it has been deleted. Can anyone else see that?

There is no folder naming limitation about .csr, I was able to create a new folder ending with .csr in my document. According to the replies posted by communities, seems like you are trying to rename a folder that is in used, please follow the suggestion from Frederick Dicaire, and do that after a reboot without any operation.

Faced the same problem. Issue is with McAfee's antivirus and not windows.

Disable the "Access Protection" feature and create the folder.
