@29pwb,Sorry, I didnt get your question... Are not able to connect ? or are u not able to create a connectoid ?From the logs, Looks like, there already exists a connectoid with the same nameas the one with which u r currentlytrying to create/connect. May be u can try with a different name in the connectoid.<snip>[732] 14:41:27: Skipping VPNCheckInetConnPage page as it is not required[732] 14:41:28: IsValidRASConnectionName: IsUniqueConnectionName failed hr: 0x80040154[732] 14:42:06: IsValidRASConnectionName: IsUniqueConnectionName failed hr: 0x80040154</snip>To know the names of already created / existing connectoid, Go to "start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Network and sharing Center"Also, are u using "Vista SP1" or "Vista SP2" ?And can u give some more information about the connectoid you are using , like the tunnel used ( PPTP/L2TP/SSTP) , authentication ( MSCHAPv2, EAP, PEAP etc ), encryption used etc

Sorr, should be a bitmore specifi, when I go to go through the process of setting up the new VPN connectoid,it gets to the end of the process, ie creating the connectoid and then click on "connect" it flickers and comes up with "Wizard Cannot connect" try again just sits there and ticks away doing nothing, diaognose the problem doesnt cause anything to occurcreate anyway but dont connect the box vanishes and there is nothing showing in the network sharing center under manage connections when I go back to look for it.Vista Ultimate SP2 on a 64 bit machine Uninstalled and reinstalled PPTP and L2TP drivers following process others logged solved this problem but no joy.

@29pwb,As far as I understand, you are creating a connectoid and trying to connect using the same. You are able to successfully create the connectoid but not able to connect using the same connectoid. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.Do u see any error message or number , when the connection fails ?Also can you please elaborate on steps you are using to create the connectoid ?Alsoit would be great if you canshare the RAS tracing logs, For this, disable tracing by running this command from an elevated Command prompt first run - netsh ras set tracing * disabled . Then, delete all files under %windir%\tracing\ folder. Then, re-enable tracing from an elevated prompt using this command - netsh ras set tracing * enabled . Now repro your failure. After 5 minutes, disable tracing again and collect logs from under the %windir%\tracing\ folder.

Yes, trying to creae the connectoid, but it does not exist that I can find anywhere nor does it give any indication that it has in fact been created. So for all intensive pruposes, the connectoid does not exist even tho as you point out in the above error log it indicates there is a connectoid with the same name already in existance. No error message whats so ever.I go to the network sharing center, select "setup a connection or n etwork"Scroll down to connet to a workplace, nextSelect "Use my internet connection (VPN)Internet address: intranet.xxxxxxxx.netDestination name: VPN XXXNextUser name: administratorPassword: xxxxxxxxTick show characters & remember passwordDomain: xxxxxxxxxxxClick connectThis is the point where it instantly flickers and comes up with wizzard cannot connect. The RAS tracing logs were in the first message I sent, I had already performed the RAS tracing log steps as you described above, I checked all of the various logs and coppied them into the first message in this thread.

1) Internet address : This should be either FQDN ( Fully Qualified Domain Name) of the RAS server or IP address of the RAS server. Before making the connection try pinging the same. ( i.e., if you are giving say abc.mydomain.com or 172.0.0.1 in 'Internet Address' ) try pinging the same. 2) when you get the 'wizard cannot connect' , try doing 'diagnose the problem' . This step will not solve the problem, but might give some insight into the issue.

1) is correct, I have created the connection on two XP machines using exactly the same information without problem and I have had a freind create it on his Vista machine and it worked perfectly.I ping the intranet.domain.net and this works perfectly.I tried the diaognose problem and notting occurs, will there be anything in the RAS tracing worthy of useif I enable it, make the conectoid and try "diagnose the problem"?
