Unable to connect to the internet while in range
hi, I had this problem for more than a week now and tried many options and they dont seem to fix this problem. I tried winsock reseting, it didnt help, i tried reinstalling wireless driver though device manager, it didnt help, i tried reseting adapter, it didnt help. I tried disabling firewall still unable to connect to the internet. my windows 7 64bit laptop doesnt connect to the internet and when it does i lose connectivity(limited connection), it repeatedly says there is no network access or its unidentfied network. It rarly connects even though im in range of my broadband router(full signal), I know my network key so thats not the issue(securitry type wpa). There are times where i do connect but the download speed is so horrible it times out and returns to the problems above. Troubleshooter does nothing, i am able to connect though wired connection with no problem, what i got when i ran "ipconfig /all", help please T.T Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. Hi, Do a an "ipconfig /all" and paste the results related to the wireless connection. You haven't changed the DNS or Default Gateway? You could always try to set static adresses for the Wireless connection.Website: www.danielclasson.com | LinkedIn: Daniel Classon

Go to Control Panel -> Change Adapter Settings -> Right click the Wireless Adapter -> Properties -> Select Ipv4 -> Properties -> and then enter the IP information. if you don't know what settings you should put there, connect with your wired connection, do a "ipconfig /all" and copy that information to the wireless adapter, and then disconnect the wired connection. Should be something like: IP adress: 192.168.0.3 (set the last number to something different from the wireless adapter, like 192.168.0.4) Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.0.1 Preferred DNS server: 192.168.0.1 Hope you find it :)Website: www.danielclasson.com | LinkedIn: Daniel Classon

try set up a new connection (setup wireless) network namesecurity typeencryption typesecurity key you will need to set the values (security key, etc) to match what is on the AP. he AP should already be set to access the internet; dns, external IP,external GW, DHCP on / off?, typically I usually go with static address for which ever net work is my primary, then set alternet address for the other. since you primary use for laptop is wireless that should be static, using values of the AP network for Gw, DNS subnet. All help is greatly appreciated thank you beoweolf, I had only one connection which is to my broadband, i removed it and made a new connection tried connecting and it failed to connect to the broadband, full signal but no connection to the broadband with the settings from wired connection (ip address, subnet mask, default gateway preferred DNS server). Advanced sharing is off with public but "home or work" has network discovery on, file and printer sharing on, used 128-bit encryption enabled, password sharing on and allow windows to manage homegroup connection, although i dont use sharing connection this is what i see.. My wireless network driver is called broadcom 802.11n network adapter, its working normally according to troubleshooter. The laptop im used is a 64 bit windows 7 home premium computer, the name is Tosihba A665-14R BLACK, the router im connecting though is Skybroadband, i sure theres no health problems since this is a new laptop, 2months old.

The laptop im used is a 64 bit windows 7 home premium computer, the name is Tosihba A665-14R BLACK, the router im connecting though is Skybroadband, i sure theres no health problems since this is a new laptop, 2months old.

have you had your computer out, test it at a public "hotspot" to see if it can access internet in a Known good access location. I did a little research; It appears that you have either a sky branded "sagem" or "netgear" router. sky broadband is the name of your service provider... isn't it? Underneath the router there should be a manufacturer's label with specifications, name, model number - other identifying information. Have you asked them to exchange routers yet? It doesn't happen often - but sometimes you just get a bad one. Did yours ever work correctly, or did they just drop it off and say "deal with it"? Yes, ... that Beoweolf

Also, when i first got this laptop i was able to connect to the internet, but few weeks after i got these problems, im not sure what caused this whether its windows updates/optional ones or somthing i installed.

Try using restore to find a date prior to this issue. then restore system to condition when things were working. Review the router settings as sent, see if any of your siblings have modified anything without telling you. Use eventviewer to review system logs for problems open microsoft windows update - review installed patches, use the KB number for research into possible problem introducedcheck action center > reliablity monitor for errors, warnings, failure. While in the reliablity monitor "review all problem reports".Yes, ... that Beoweolf

i went on skybroadband router settings>wireless settings and changed the mode around there were four modes 54g auto, 54g performance, 54g LRS and 800.11bs only. Im able to get a connection to the internet after i changed from 54g auto to 800.11bs only and changed it back to 54g auto, for some reason i can connect to the internet now, but im unsure which one to choose or should i leave it as it is? Edit: it seems that when i go web browsing i get DNS lookup failed on google chrome, then i lose my connection

Hi, could you tell me if you ever solved your problem? I am having the same problem. Connections were fine until a few weeks ago, then very intermittent at best. Other computer connects fine. Wireless signal is great. Connection with Ethernet is fine. I get very brief connection, then it doesn't last. Constantly going through the cycle of connecting, connected, limited connection...), but trying to go to a webpage usually just gives a "server not found" now.

Hi. I'm having the same issues/symptoms (as the originator of the thread above) with the Broadcom 802.11N network adapter (ven_14e4&dev_4358) in my Acer Aspire 5560-sb410 laptop. I have Windows 7 64bit Home Premium installed. Wired connetion works fine. Adapter picks up on the wireless router signal at various places (home, office, friend's house) including at the library where wireless network is unsecured. In all cases, signal strength is good to excellent. However, it just won't connect when the encryption key entered is the right key. Neither will it connect to an unsecured wireless network. It was working fine up to a couple of weeks ago. Haven't used it since then but after applying the latest set of Windows Updates last night through a wired connection, I can't seem to connect to any wireless networks either at home, the office, or at the public library, which have never given me any problems before. Cant' say for certain that it was caused by the Windows updates (could have been coincidental). I was wondering if anybody else on this thread have been able to solve their wireless issues since. A summary of the Windows network diagnostic report follows: *** Profile Match: Success Pre-Association: Success Association: Fail Security and Authentication: Not started *** A response was not received from the router or access point. Wireless association to this network failed. Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point. *** Please help if you can by posting a solution that you think might help that hasn't been already suggested above as I've tried them all with no luck. Or send me a link to any posts that you think could be useful. Much appreciated!
