Unable to connect to Remote Desktop behind the router whare as RD works fine without Router
Hi All,This is my Remote desktop host's current set up.OS: Windows xp pro SP2IIS:5.4 Terminal Services enabled and runs automatically ( configured this in services.msc)Default port that IIS listening to is 80 and it is enabledMycomputer-->Properties-->Remote-->Allow users to connect to this computer check box enabledWindows firewall(enabled)-->Exceptions --> Allow Remote desktop checkbox enabled(TCP 3389 opened), port TCP 80 opened, port UDP 3389 opened, Port 80 UDP opened (UDP ports were opened just in case)Network Connections --> TCP/IP --> Properties -->Static IP 192.168.2.2Subnet mask 255.255.255.0Gateway 192.168.2.1DNS 192.168.2.1These details were copied from IPCONFIG /allRouter Information:USR5461Router configured for Static IP 192.168.2.2 in the LAN pageRouter firewall enabled (tried disableing this and connecting but that too didnt help).Following ports are forwarded in the routerWAN PORT: from 80 to 80 IPaddress:192.168.2.2 LAN PORT: from 80 to 80 TCPWAN PORT: from 3389 to 3389 IPaddress:192.168.2.2 LAN PORT: from 3389 to 3389 TCPWAN PORT: from 80 to 80 IPaddress:192.168.2.2 LAN PORT: from 80 to 80 UDPWAN PORT: from 3389 to 3389 IPaddress:192.168.2.2 LAN PORT: from 3389 to 3389 UDPProblem:If i have the PC connected directly to the modem Remote Desktop connection works fine. However If I have the router in the middle the Remote desktop doesn't workHowever , I did a netstat - a and I can see in the host the ports 3389 and 80 are listening.I also did a poryquery using microsoft's portqueryui on port 3389 and i get the following result"Attempting to resolve IP address to a name...Failed to resolve IP address to namequerying...TCP port 3389 (sapgw89 service): FILTEREDUDP port 3389 (unknown service): LISTENING or FILTEREDportqry.exe -n 99.233.8.73 -e 3389 -p BOTH exits with return code 0x00000002."I also did a poryquery using microsoft's portqueryui on port 80 and i get the following resultAttempting to resolve IP address to a name...Failed to resolve IP address to namequerying...TCP port 80 (http service): FILTEREDUDP port 80 (unknown service): LISTENING or FILTEREDportqry.exe -n 99.233.8.73 -e 80 -p BOTH exits with return code 0x00000002.I am not sure what else I should do to make this remote desktop work.Somebody please help me and Please dont tell me to remove router out of picture because I have other machines that connect to this router wirelessly.Also I dont want to compromise any firewall windows or router if possible.RegardsHead Bang1 person needs an answerI do too
