Unable to connect to CIFS share on ReadyNAS from 8.1 Ent

My windows 8.1 enterprise is configured like this:

Physical Intel NIC is using Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch

Virtual Hyper-V Ethernet adapter is configured with a static IP so that I can RDC in

The VMs running on this box also have static IP's.

The ReadyNAS' firmware is up to date.

The host and VMs all have internet access and proper network access, I can even ping and SSH the NAS that holds the shares I'm trying to connect to.

I can see the ReadyNAS Pro under Network>Storage, if I double-click it I get "Error 0x80004002:No such interface supported"

When I try and add a share as a network location I'm told that "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid.  Please choose another."

When I try to map a network drive to a share I'm prompted for credentials, I enter them, the window just reappears asking me to login again.

I've tried enabling Jumbo Packets.

I've reinstalled "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks"

I've edited the registry entries using

powershell.exe Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $true

and

Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters" RequireSecureNegotiate -Value 0 -Force

I've configured the SMB service with these commands:

sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi

sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled

I've deleted and reinstalled both adapters.

I'm really at a loss, any suggestions?

Hi,

For this issue ,we need to confirm if this issue is related to ReadyNAS.

Please try using other computer to access the ReadyNAS.

If it works, please temporarily delete the Hyper-V Extensible Virtual Switch on your Windows 8.1.

And then use the normal NIC to check the result.

Hi Chris, there's various threads about this issue. All with no resolve from what I can see. I'm running a home setup Win 8.1, workgroup, DLNA TV (can't see it either), ReadyNAS, Netgear gigabit switch. All worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago then the ReadyNAS disappeared from Network (in Explorer) still appears as a Network Storage (but part tree listing) and is not visible to DLNA devices and mapped drives say unavailable.

Strangely I can see the NAS and access it from a win8.1 laptop wirelessly attached to same setup. I, like everyone else is at a loss as I have reset, re-installed, re-configured and swapped hardware all with same results.Gonna keep an eye on this thread along with a couple from the ReadyNAS forum to see If anyone finds the issue. Personally I currently suspect a Netgear S/W update so am going to reset my box this morning.

Hello,

it took me a weekend to solve it including NetGear L1 support, in case it is ReadyNAS Duo v1, at least....

The root of the problem is NOT the Windows at this time, but the RAIDar firmware.

I bet you get this message just after flash upgrading the firmware and/or after having installed a new Win8.1.

These are just incompatible.

I downgraded from v4.1.14 back to 4.1.8. and suddenly it came back to work without any problem.
I have not got any experience with the versions greater than 4.1.8 but smaller than 4.1.14 as I am happy with the system now.
