I am having an issue where I am unable to close, minimize, or maximize applications using the buttons in the upper right corner of the window.  Pressing Alt+F4 also does not work.  I can right click on the close button in the upper right corner and select Close from the menu.  Some applications also won't scroll down.  Sometimes if I switch the active window and come back I can use the buttons but not always.  I ran a Windows Repair and that fixed the problem for awhile but it came back within a few days.  I am using Windows 8 Pro on a Lenovo T410.  I found some threads on a Win 7 forum that seemed similar but the only suggestions I found were to upgrade the mouse driver, which I did but it didn't help.  A mouse driver issue also doesn't explain why Alt+F4 wouldn't work.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?
