Unable to change anything in services.msc
using windows XP, SP3, IE8....I changed something on one of the services in services.msc from Network to Local User. Cannot remember which one. So now, unable to start any service that has not been started such as RPC due to dependencies. However, I cannot even look at the Properties to change anything on any service. As a result, cannot access internet or recieve Outlook mail...I doubleclick on the icon, but it does nothing. I believe I must have done somethign to one of the accounts...possibly a permissions issue. Is there anyway to tell from the registry1 person needs an answerI do too

That event (e.g. change) may be listed in the event logs.Right click My Computer Select Manage Expand the Event Viewer section Select the System log I know it may be a bit daunting, but it's sorted by date. It may be listed as a workgroup policy object (WPO) in the Source column. If not, take your time and search. The event should be listed, and it should include some detailed information.Hope it helps!

Your best bet would be to login with Safe Mode and do a "System Restore" to a time before this problem occurred."How to restore Windows XP to a previous state" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 >"How to start the System Restore tool by using the safe mode option with the Command prompt in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449 >HTH, JW
