Unable to amend security as suggested by Event ID 10016
I am seeing Event ID 10016 on my system on a regular basis. I have located the APPID within the Component Services administrative tool (it appears to belong to IPBusEnum) but despite using an Administrator account it is not possible to amend the settings on the Security tab. I would like to resolve this error, as I like to run a clean system. The complete error description from the System log is as follows: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1} and APPID {344ED43D-D086-4961-86A6-1106F4ACAD9B} to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (6.1.7600) with all the latest updates as of today (08DEC2010) on an i7-980X ASUS RAMPAGE III Extreme MB with 12Gb RAM. The Event Log online help points to this page: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd337789%28WS.10%29.aspx and have confirmed that Access Permissions and Launch and Activition Permissions are set appropriately. Anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in hopeful anticipation. Simon

Hi, Thanks for the post! Please refer to this KB 920783: Event ID error messages 10016 and 10017 are logged in the System log after you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. Hi Miya Thanks for the reply! I've read the KB but as far as I'm aware I don't have Sharepoint Services installed and IIS WAMREG admin Service is not listed when I follow the procedure outlined in the KB. Any other ideas? Simon
