Unable to add Win7 workstation to Enterprise Server 2003 domain
Hi all! I faced an issue while adding Win 7 PC to domain of win 2003 server. I just tried adding a Windows 7 Ultimate workstation to my Windows Enterprise Server 2003 domain but when I go to add it to the domain, it will prompt me for account credentials for the domain (to which I put the Administrator username and the administrator password) but it prompts me with an error message saying that it couldn't resolve the DNS name (even though it prompted me for credentials when I put the domain name in). I was able to add other XP workstations to the domain without issue. Both the Windows 7 workstation and the Domain Controller are attached to Switch. There is no router. This is the first time I have installed Windows 7 on one of our workstations and haven't used Windows 7 that much at all. Somebody please let me know the solution for this.

Hello, this should be a DNS problem / connectivity problem. First check connectivity. For DNS, make sure that: Each DC / DNS server points to itself as primary DNS server and to other internal DNS servers as secondary ones Each DC without DNS points to the correct internal DNS servers Each public DNS server is set as a forwarder and not as a secondary DNS server Once done, run ipconfig /registerdns and restart netlogon on all DCs. For the client computer, make sure that it points to the correct DNS server as primary one. Another thing, make sure that there is no firewall blocking DNS traffic. Use PortQry v2 and check traffic to port 53 of this server. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
