Unable to activate Windows 7 RC build 7100
Okay so I tried to activate Windows 7 and it said "A problem occured when Windows tried to activate. Error code 0x8007000D". But when I put the code in the first time, it didn't have any sort of problem. I have 24 days left, and Windows 7 has been good to me so far, and would love to continue to use it. Any suggestions?

Try again later - the activation server may be down at the moment (it happens.)Is this a clean install of Win7 (build 7100, yes?), an upgrade from an earlier build, or an upgrade from Vista?[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. I installed it on a separate partition from Windows XP, everything works fine, I just can't activate it.

google for activate 8007000D look at http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1466/vista_error_0x8007000d_data_is_invalid/ also consider "You must remove Daemon tool or Alcohol CD/DVD Emulation programms." If no joy, your original download may have been bad.Kris

I don't have Daemon of Alcohol installed on this partition, but on Windows XP. Should I remove it from there?

I would try that.Kris

Okay, I'll try that if not momentarily, in the morning.

Okay I removed Alcohol from my Windows XP partition and I still get the same error. Is there anything else I can try besides redownloading and reinstalling Windows 7?

BioS -You could try an "In Place Upgrade" - insert the DVD, Upgrade on top of your existing installation. It may repair anything that was installed incorrectly previously and causing this issue.

Sorry, I have no idea.Kris

Er, I used alcohol 52% on Windows XP to actually launch the installation process.. Is it possible that I could do the same on Windows 7, uninstall Alcohol, and try to validate again?
May 14th, 2009 6:21am

that quite possibly is your problem. redo the install, but first uninstall alcohol everywhere and delete it from all your systems. You could also try Wolfie's suggestion. It also made me wonder if a repair install wouldn't help.Kris

But the problem is my disc drive doesn't write DVDs. I planned to get a DVD burner but I didn't think I'd NEED to get one so soon, I guess I'll try it next week when I get my dvd burner.

You could try using 7-zip or something similair to extract the contents of the ISO to a folder and then run setup from there.Asrock K8NF6P, AMD64 3200+, 1.5GB RAM, Palit Geforce 8400GS 256MB, 500GB Maxtor SataII, Asus 1814BLT optical

Really? That was my first idea but I thought it was doomed to fail. Anyone else think this could work?
May 14th, 2009 6:37am

That route definitely works when upgrading or repairing. As far as I am aware, the only time that won't work is when you have to repartition/format the drive during setup.Asrock K8NF6P, AMD64 3200+, 1.5GB RAM, Palit Geforce 8400GS 256MB, 500GB Maxtor SataII, Asus 1814BLT optical

Alright, I'll try it at the end of the night, I hope this works.

I tried to run it in Windows XP and it wouldn't work, it just kept reopening the setup window, is it safe to try it in Windows 7?

DVD burners are pretty inexpensive. Would advise you get one and use it.Kris

Lol I plan on getting one this weekend, I had put it off a little though, because I upgraded this computer for gaming, and since I get games through STEAM, an online vendor, I figured I could upgrade that last.

BioS615: Have you been able to activate it yet? It's past the 24 days since you first posted this thread. How are things going? -Nick

Yeah, I did a repair 'upgrade', popped the code in, and it accepted it. Still need to buy that DVD-RW drive though...
