Unable to access network share on Server 2008 R2 from Windows 7 machine
I have a Windows 7 Machine 'mikoto' with user 's' and a Windows Server 2008 Machine 'arondight' with user 'm' on my local network.
I am attempting to create a shared folder on the server machine that I can access from the Windows 7 machine. I have gone through the process of enabling sharing and granting my user permission to access the folder.
Upon entering '\\arondight\SharedFolder' into Windows Explorer, it prompts for a username and password. I enter 'arondight\m' as the username and my password.
Windows denies access to the share with the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."
Given that my password is correct (I've entered this dozens of times by now), I assume that it is having issues resolving the user.
Unfortunately, I tend to admin Ubuntu machines, so I'm not too familiar with the administration of Windows Server.
