Unable to access files between local network PC's
I have 2 ethernet computers running XP Home SP3. They are ethernet connected behind an Airllink 101 wireless router. A Vista Laptop is connected on the wireless (the Vista Laptop cannot access files either). At one time I had a third ethernet connected PC without SP's and I could access its files from at least one of the other PC's. I have tired removing (temp) firewalls and Virus checking with no success. In the network section I can see the computers and shared files on the PC's but when I try to open the directories is says I may not have permission to use this network resource. Not enough server storage to process this command. Server? These are esentiallly back to back peer computers. I have 50+ GB on each PC. I believe that this occured after I installed SP2 or SP3.1 person got this answerI do too

The information Steve provided solved my problem. The contact he mentioned made reference to a registry entry (I can't remember it now.). It was not present on my computer so I added it as instructed. The instructions indicated that a default value of 15 woudl happen when created - it created with a zero value. I put in a value of 15, rebooted and the problem was still there. I increased the value to 20, rebooted and it still failed. Thinking further, (I added value to computer A and still could not access computer B.) On a hunch I went to computer B and tried to access computer A and it worked!. I applied the value 20 to computer B and then computers A, B and C (the laptop running Vista) had full access to all computers. THANK YOU STEVE WINOGRAD!!!

The contact Steve indicated had 4 items - the one referring to not enough memory solved the problem - I used the value of 20 but found that it had to be applied to the computer you try to access - not the computer you are using to access the on with files you wish to access. After both XP computers were modified, all three of my computers (including the laptop running Vista) had access to all other computers. THANK YOU STEVE WINOGRAD!!
