Unable to access Win7 Pro shared folder
I have setup a shared folder on my domain connected Windows 7 Pro laptop. I am unable to see the share from a Windows 2003 server. I have turned off firewall and antivirus. I receive a "No network provider accepted the given network path." error when trying to access it from the server (or any other pc) with \\laptop\share. In advanced sharing settings, I have: Turn on network discovery Turn on file and printer sharing Turn off Public folder sharing (I've also tried it with this option on with no effect)

Hi, Can the Server machine be accessed from other machines? Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Ping the Windows 2003 machine from Windows 7 machine and check whether you can get any response. 2. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the Server machine. 3. Assure the user account on Windows 7 machine has enough permission to access the shared folder. 4. Write down the IP address for the Windows 2003 machine. Click Start button in Windows 7 and type \\IP address for the Windows 2003, and then press enter. Can you access the Windows 2003 machine? For more information, please also refer to the following article: No network provider accepted the given network path Thanks, Novak

You've got the direction backwards. I am trying to connect to a Windows 7 pc from a Windows 2003 server. I can ping the W7 pc by name. When I do a net view \\pc from any other host, I get an error 51. Firewall and AV are turned off for testing. The Windows 203 server was used for testing, but it happens from any host when I try to connect to the W7 pc.

I've uninstalled symantec AV. Firewall is turned on by GPO, but allows file and print sharing. Still cannot connect.

Please restart the Windows 7 and Windows 2003 machine to Safe Mode with Networking, and then check whether they can access to each other. If still not, please capture the error message and upload it for research. Thanks, Novak

Restarting Win7 client in Safe Mode with Networking does not start Server service, so it is unable to respond to requests. From the Windows 2003 server.
