Unable to Save .exe File to any location
I am attempting to save an .exe file down to my computer through firefox. I have also tried this through IE but get the same result. When I try to save the file I am able to pick the location, but no matter where I pick I always get the same 2 results. 1. If I try to save on the desktop or downloads or many other folders I get a prompt that I am unable to save file and to select a different location. 2. If I try to save to C: in any way (even though I run both as admin) I am told that I do not have permission to save here and it redirects me to my documents folder which cycles back in problem number 1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wucka

Hi Wucka, IE and other browsers will block exes that are part of a webpages design and will often block HTML based email attachments that are exe files. In this case it is far more likely that if you are using an Antivirus/Malware/Internet Security suite that it is blocking or quarantining the file you are attempting to download. If the file you are downloading is from a known and trusted source you can try disabling your antivirus software and attempting the download again. If that still doesnt get it through then we can try running IE in the no Add On mode and attempting the download. To launch IE with no Add Ons go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and clicking the icon for Internet Explorer No Add Ons. If that still doesnt let the file download we can try doing a clean boot of Vista to see if something is loading on Startup that is blocking the Download. Here is a Microsoft Knowledge Base article the explains the Clean Boot procedure: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;929135 Refer : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/unable-to-download-exe-files/6708fdfa-7cc8-48b6-b9fe-510c353d6c38 Thanks & Best Regards, Mohammed Imtiyaz Ali
