Unable to Install .Net 3.5

I have been struggling trying to install .Net 3.5 SP1 on my Windows 8 Pro PC.

I tried adding the feature through the windows feature add on window and that fails... I downloaded the .Net35 ex and ran that as admin.. that failed.

I have followed your detailed instructions on using DISM command both with the installation CD, and copying the files over to my E:\ drive... I get the same error

Description: Update NetFx3 of Package Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800f0906.

Please can you advise what options are open to me, as there are several programs/hardware components that won't work without it.

Thanks.

Terry

Try this:

Error codes when you try to install the .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8 or in Windows Server 2012

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782/en-us

Installing the .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8

If it doesn't help you, zip and upload the Folder C:\Windows\Logs\CBS

I followed your instructions (3rd time I did this from previous suggestion posts)..

When using the recommended command (as administrator in Command.exe)

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:<var>D</var>:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

I get Error: 0x899f0922

Where do I post the log file you are looking for?

Thanks.

This is the command line that should work. (suggesting that D: is the location of the Windows 8 installation  files)

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:D:\sources\sxs

Nope... tried that and got the same error message:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /Limit

Try this:

The issue was finally resolved after recreating the Perfmon counters registry keys using "lodctr /r". In fact, the "The configuration registry key is invalid" cryptic message mainly means that Perfmon registry keys are "corrupted" and need to be rebuilt. There are similar problems & resolutions on the web : http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winformssetup/thread/09a26089-6849-4dd6-a590-714a49dda609/). Note that before rebuilding the performance counters, it is recommended to backup current Perfmon counters registry keys using lodctr /s:"perfbkp.txt". After rebuilding the counters, the IIS role could be installed without any problem.
