Unable to Connect to domain controllers with any vista machine
I have to say this is the wierdest issue that I have ever seen. The symptomsare these. I am unable to ping, rdp, recieve dns or connect in any way from a vista machines to 2 domain controllers (out of 8 in the network). DHCP is handed out from another server without issues to these vista machines. The vista machines can ping, everything else on the network except the DC's but since the 2 domain controllers are the DNS servers, the vista users are unable to get DNS resolution. I have found a work around for this is to got to each domain controller and ping the the vista workstation, then that specific vista workstation will have correct connectivity and be able to ping, rdp and receive dns resolution from the DC's. The workaround only works untill the system goes into standby, reboots or shutsdown. The 2k3sp2 and vista(prem or business) sp1 machines all have the firewalls completely turned off. I have also disabled ipv6 on the vista machines.Any ideas on a resolution would be great.

Hi, Thank you for your post. Based on my research, please check the following: 1. Check the IPSEC and firewall settings on the two DCs. 2. Please ping the DCs with IP address to check how it works. 3. Please ensure that the NIC driver is up-to-date. Please go to the manufactures site to check for the latest driver and install it to see if it works. Meanwhile, please check if other Windows Vista computers encounter this issue. Hope this helps.
