Is this computer on a domain? Because if this is a domain PC, your Administrator may have configured new policies that restrict you from changing the IE settings. Contact your administrator in that case. If it is not a domain PC, revert back here with details on when did this happen. Hope it helps! Kunal D Mehta - a Windows Server Enthusiast.

Hi, According the issue, I want to know happened when you change the IE security setting? It back to default setting or gray out? Some system setting may cause IE security option gray out, you may try following steps: If your computer is a domain based computer , in order to check whether this problem is caused by GPO confliction issue, I suggest that you may use” gpresult /h” command to export the group policy to the report. Please upload the screenshot and group policy report via SkyDrive and post a link here. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive?wa=wsignin1.0 If your computer isn’t a domain based computer, please check your registry, since IE security could be disabled by registry: 1. Click Start button, type regedit in Search bar. 2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet 3. Check the items “Security_options_edit” and “Security_zones_map_edit”, if exist, set the value to 0 Also some third party software may cause IE security back to default setting or gray out. You may try to perfrom a Clean Boot to check: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
