Unable to Browse Network from Windows Explorer
My client has a W7 Pro (64-bit) client that is unable to browse the network from Windows Explorer. When one clicks the > arrow next to 'Network' and wait, nothing happens. There is an error message, but I forgot to write it down. The message, however,
included the words, "Access Denied". This PC is part of a domain with a single domain controller.
Interestingly, other networking services work. For example, from the command prompt when I type 'NET VIEW', it correctly lists computers. And if I type 'NET VIEW <SERVER>', the list of shares on the server appear.
Also, I am able to map a lettered drive to a known share on the server from within Windows Explorer.
When I checked the event viewer, there was one error message that might possibly be related:

Hi,
Regarding the event log, you may refer to the following KB article to install the hotfix to see if it
helps:
Event ID 5719 and event ID 1129 may be logged when a non-Microsoft DHCP Relay Agent is used
If the issue persists, please provide the detailed error which you received for further research.

Dear Sabrina,
There has been no progress on this task because I have not been able to reach the end user's computer. At this point, I am treating it as a possible malware problem. Also, the mapping of letter drives to specific shares seems to be a satisfactory work-around
for the end user. Perhaps that is why he is procrastinating.
If and when I have progress to report, I promise to repost here.Herb Kolodny
