USB not recognizing mass storage in any way - not seen in Windows 7 - but three TB of other drives are working via USB.
I have a fairly decently updated ASUS laptop with 8GB ram, and 3TB storage, external and recognized via USB. But when I plug in my phone and choose "mass storage" (it always worked before), the laptop doesn't even see it under any circumstances. I saw the replies of disconnecting all power and rebooting that way. but my other drives all work. It's just this phone that it won't see now. I've tried all the other ports, but no luck. Any ideas? Reinstall USB drivers? I am also having the same problem with a USB video capture device, so it's not just the phone, and the USB drives that DO work, are not listed, or misreported under Devices and Printers. This is a fairly fresh reinstall to factory base,, then updated with all of the windows updates including the SP1. Please assist, I am disabled due to 2 bouts of cancer, and can't afford for anyone else to fix - I'm a shut-in, and have to fix this myself, or do without. At 53, I remember most of what I did as an IT guy for all those years, but Microsoft has made many upgrades since I had to quit 12 years ago. I'm good with the registry, and can do most stuff still with the OS, but I'm baffled by this one - PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!Mike Mundy, 30 plus years PC experience - worked for Microsoft for 2 years. Disabled due to cancer, and ALWAYS need help with Windows 7 so I'm installing Windows 8 o_0

Some range of phones require the PC suite / corresponding driver to be installed first before they can be detected in Mass Storage mode. Can you try installing PC suite (which should include USB drivers too) of your phone or specific USB driver from the phone manufacturer website. Btw, whats your phone model ? @Arthur, He has said he has issue only with Phone USB connectivity. Rest other storage devices are working fine on the same USB. Since the issue is only with the phone and that some manufacturers require their phone drivers to be installed to have storage mode work, I suggested the above option. Am sorry, would reinstalling USB controllers help in such situations?Regards Ashok J Prakash If a post solved your problem, click Mark as Answer on the post.
