Hey all, I have this weird thing going, was hoping someone might have a clue. I have a user with an ASUS u50vg laptop. She uses a wireless Logitech mouse [ m305 if I'm not mistaken ]. One day, the USB port she was plugging the receiver into stopped working. As in - it stopped working as a 'mouse port' - other hardware [ such as memory sticks ] would work just fine. Today - it happened to the rest of the ports. When I plug that mouse [ or any other mouse, for that matter ], Win7 installs the driver, but recognizes the mouse as [i]USB Composite Device[/i], and it is not being added to the [i]Mice and other pointing devices[/i] group. I am quite stumped. I tried booting the PC with a live CD - the mouse works just fine. I've attempted to remove all ghost devices, reinstall USB controllers and reinstall the chipset - all to no avail. Scanned w/ Malwarebytes - nothing found. Soooo....... Have you tried installing the Logitech drivers for the mouse and if you do that does that resolve the problem? Also does the receiver work in different system?

Hi there, Apparently, Logitech does not provide the drivers separately. However, they claim drivers are part of the SetPoint software. I have indeed installed SetPoint [the most recent version, 6.32 if I'm not mistaken], to no avail. Hi Jonathan, I am having Logitech Wireless Mouse, M185, 225 and M305. When i connect receiver to the system, all of them are detected as USB Composite Device only. So i guess there is no issue in the Wireless and drivers. If you are seeing the above 2 highlighted devices in your device manager, I suggest you check the mouse bottom part, battery, switch position etc ? Ashok, hi, That's the thing, though - Windows does not recognize this mouse as a 'mouse'. What I mean by that is that under Mice and other pointing devices there's no mouse other than the touchpad. For some reason, this particular Windows does not see the mice as mice. I checked this with two wireless mice and with a wired Microsoft optical mouse.All parts should go together without forcing. In device manager, when you click View > Show hidden devices Are you seeing any new devices or any devices with ? Did you try Windows update. Try updating if not done. Ashok, hi, I did view hidden devices. In fact, I even viewed phantom devices and removed everything that is not currently enabled. It did no good. There are a few devices with a question mark on them, but those are three Bluetooth 'devices' [I'm guessing - bluetooth protocols] and a printer. The machine is fully updated, unfortunately. Wish it would be so simple. I will try the post you have mentioned, I'm crossing my fingers :) By the by, I did try installing SetPoint, but no good came out of it. Contact Logitech support. You may have a problem with the receiver itself. I had that happen to me with one of thier mice and they sent me a refurbed mose and receiver. Jerry

I agree with jwitakla. I have seen very very odd issues on a computer and it ended up being the last thing I would think of, the mouse itself. Is there there a chance you can test it on another computer first? The receiver may be screwed up or the mouse just may not be seeing the receiver correctly.

If possible you could use System Restore to restore Windows to a moment before the issue occurred. You could still try that.
