USB User GPO

Hi,

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem, but I have created User GPO to block Removable Storage devices ( USB ) so whenever a user is logged into Windows 8.1, USB is blocked. I have a allow group which contains specific users to allow USB which is also targeted to Windows 8.1 OU , but this GPO doesnt seem to work on Windows 8.1. I can see under GPresult, the GPO is applying etc, but not enforcing the policy.

It works perfectly on Windows 7.

I tested using Computer Configuration GPO For Windows 8.1 and that worked, but this doesnt help me as I need to block users and not computers for USB.

Hoping someone else has experienced this problem and could assist me.

Hi Shaun,

Which policy are you using here? I am not very familiar with the specific policy settings.

For the USB restrictions, you may check:

HOWTO: Use Group Policy to disable USB, CD-ROM, Floppy Disk and LS-120 drivers

For group policy troubleshooting, it is recommended seek help in the forum below:

Further, you may enable GPO loopback to check if this would work as expected:

Windows Server: Understand User Group Policy Loopback Processing Mode

Best regards
