USB Port Issues
I've deleted my original main user but since then all my new users(that are admins) still cannot use the usb ports. Anything i connect to my usb ports won't let me access anything. The connection is being made because when i plug the cord into the usb port the computer recognizes that something has been attached, but won't let me access anything. I've tried looking for some sort of setting to adjust and can't seem to find anything. If theres anyone out there that might know what i could do, help would be much appreciated!1 person needs an answerI do too

Please give us more information to help understand the problem. What types of devices are you connecting to the USB ports? How are you trying to access them? What exactly happens when you do it? If there's an error message, what does it say?Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

All devices I connect through usb ports, such as ipods, my cellphone, memory sticks, etc. Also my computer has a slot for memory card and does not work as well. Nothing happens when i connect any of these items through any of the ports. No error message, only thing that happens is it will make that windows sound effect that something has been connected. If I go to my computer, things that I have connected do not show up here either. When i disconnect the item, windows makes the sound effect that its been disconnected. Other than that nothing happens. I have Windows XP home edition.

Un-installing and re-installing the USB hardware might help. First, make a restore point using System Restore . Then, go to Device Manager , double-click Univeral Serial Bus controllers , and un-install all the devices. Then re-start the computer and let it re-install the USB devices.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
