USB PHY for IPv6
Is there some way to configure Windows so that it works with USB 3.0 as the PHY layer for IPv6 or even IPv4? For the link layer, there must be some way to generate a 48-bit MAC address. Has this ever been done with USB 2.0, since that's much higher transfer rate than 100Mbps Ethernet? Is there such a device such as an external PCI-Express adapter? There are many extensibility options available for the PC in the form of PCI-Express, although notebook PCs don't enjoy this luxury. An external PCI-Express adapter that takes an x4 or single lane PCI-Express card would simply plug into an accompanying ExpressCard device, which in turn can plug into any notebook PC. x16 and x8 devices would not work very well since x4 devices themselves would require onboard RAM cache on this external adapter as ExpressCard does not support higher transfer rate. What's the transfer rate set for ExpressCard in new PCI-Express 3.0? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-ca/w7itprogeneral Thanks.
