USB Drive initiated too late
Hello, I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and external drive WD MyBook Essential 1TB (connected to desktop via USB 2.0). The problm goes as follows: 1) I start the system. 2) I log into my account. 3) The desktop appears. 4) System displas message that new disks were found (external drive is connected all the time!). Then I get annoying message what shall I do (i.e. play music, display pictures, etc.) and so on. Is there any way to make W7 discover usb drive faster?

Hi, thanks for your posting. How long does your pc recognize your USB drive? Generally, it should not go through the find hard drive wizard every time. Please try to connect on another computer to see if the same issue occurs. And if it is convenience, test with another hard drive. Try to update BIOS and this drive driver. Also contacting the manufacturer to further check. Furthermore, if you want to disable the message appear, you can do these steps: 1 Click “Start” and input “AutoPlay” in search box. 2 Click AutoPlay 3 Remove the select of “Use AutoPlay for all media and devices” 4 Click “Save” Hope it helps. leo, Turning off autoplay is not a solution :) The real problem is late initialization of USB hard drive. I believe it should happen before logon screen appears. Regards
