USB Drive error
When i insert my 4gb usb in my computer, it says you need to format in order to proceed, and when i try to format it, it displays that the disk is write protected, windows is not able to format it. I am using windows 7 home basic edition. What i am suppose to do for my pen drive to work properly again?

looks like a corrupted file system i do not recommend using usb sticks as primary storage, they are not reliable enough Windows MVP 2011-12, XP, Vista, 7. You can also try to neglect the message and just use the usb drive like I do. I agree with previous reply that usb drives are not dependable. They should be used for temporary convenience only and anything important should also be saved elsewhere.

The USB stick in my experience is about as reliable as the old floppy disks it managed to replace. I keep a folder on my server with a zipped up backup of every one of my USB sticks in case one craps out or I loose it. Burning the zip files to a DVD or Blueray will make an archival copy in case the server dies etc Windows MVP 2011-12, XP, Vista, 7. Hi, To update motherboard driver and check it again. This issue relates to hardware driver, please reformat your USB stick. Or you may reformat it with other computer for testing. If the issue persists, you may contact manufacture for hardware diagnostic.Ivan-Liu TechNet Community Support
