USB Device not recognized

Hello.  I have mistakenly physically removed my Samsung Galaxy 5S cell phone from its connected USB cable that was connected to my Lenovo L440 laptop's USB port, when it was running a directory view of the photos in the camera (very stupid, but I did it not thinking....).  Oops!!  Now, my laptop's USB Ports (3 qty), will not recognize the camera on any of the USB ports.  I get a response - "USB Device Not Recognized.  The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it'"

I tried connecting to a seldom used other laptop, logging in with my same Windows User Name - davidpkernan@gmail.com, and got the same identical message, so this must be also tied to my Windows account, not just with my primary Lenovo L440 laptop.  I have tried all sorts of activity in attempt to resolve this, but to no avail.

What is a solution to this dilemma?

normally you need to perform cold boot in your laptop. try to shutdown your laptop and remove any connection to it. Let your laptop shutdown about 5min and try again to start.

If still persist try to applied this hotfix
