UPEK fingerprint functionality in Win 7 problem with Finger Print Store Location?
I have Sony Vaio TZ notebooks in our domain running Windows 7 Enterprise. These notebooks come with a UPEK fingerprint sensor built in and they work well with Windows 7, once fingerprints are enrolled in the Control Panel Biometric Device Applet. I have noticed a problem in my testing that I need help understanding. We have an SBS 2003 networkand the Windows 7 clients are very happy on the domain. Our My Documents folders (Documents in Win7) are redirected to a server share for backup purposes and all works well. We use Offline files to cache a copy for offline use. However, when a user is disconnected from the network, at home for example, their fingerprint sensor will not authenticate their fingerprints. All who have tested this on our network say the same thing. We all get an error that says the fingerprint store is unavailable. Is the fingerprint store in the Documents folder? If so, does it not get copied to the offline cache with all other documents in the redirected folder?Thank you!James Nelson

This was repaired in a UPEK update to the software and works well now.James Nelson
