UAC alerts on files run as administrator
Something I'm getting really tired of is when you set aprogram to be run as administrator for compatibility or is by default set that way, you will always get anUAC warning that the file will make changes to the system.First, I prefer UAC be turn on and working. The idea of controlling what changes are made is very appealing to me. Except on known files.Second, if I KNOW what a file is and what it's going to do, how can I tell the system or UAC that this one file is "always OK". This is doable in downloaded files, why not in other occurances? In particular, there are versions of the HP update program that will periodically execute, and each time I get this warning. I know this file, and it should always run without my intervention. I've got other files that do the same thing, and it's getting annoying. But, I wouldn't want any other file to run in such modeswithout showing this warning. So how do I mark that one file? Or is this not a feature in Windows?

No, it's not a 'feature of Windows' to override the UAC. There are several third party soultions you will find with a goggle search.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP

3rd party is a great thing about Windows. Lots of options. But I contend this should be a feature INSIDE windows. Rather than an outside hack.

That defeats the purpose of UAC Nargg. The idea is that UAC helps users and vendors identify their poorly written applications so that they are corrected. If vendors could easily disable UAC for their applications within the OS natively, they would never be fixed. Ned Pyle [MSFT] - MS Enterprise Platforms Support - Beta Team
