UAC Promt problem with shared screen (Lync shared desktop)
Not sure this is the right place to place the question, but UAC is a Windows feature :) (I have also asked the question in the Lync forum). when we are taking over a sessions through Lync 2010 (shared desktop) and we sometimes recive a UAC promt on the shared desktop, we would like to be able to type in the username and password. But it doesnt work. Before the session was "paused" (the viewer gets a black screen with a white pause symbol). But after changing some Group Policyes the "viewer" can see the UAC promt now. But we (the viewer) can't type the username and password. We had the same problem during Remote Assistance before, but after changing the GPO the problem doesn't exist anymore within a remote assistance session. Have anyone solved this issue? I think its quite common problem? Following changes has been made in the GPO: [Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options] User Account Control: Allow UIAccess applications to prompt for elevation without using the secure desktop Enabled User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode Elevate without prompting User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for standard users Prompt for credentials User Account Control: Only elevate UIAccess applications that are installed in secure locations Disabled User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation Disabled Thanks for any help.

1. Perhaps I have not catched the problem properly, but what about to start with disabled UAC? 2. Have you looked into troubleshooting documentation and some UAC flaw(?) description? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee844169(v=ws.10).aspx http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2009/02/the-curious-tale-of-windows-7s-uac.ars Problem that are somewhere between server and workstation ones are difficult to solve (not to speak about unwanted child in forums). Thanks for your answer But disabling UAC is not an option. I also made the suggestions regarding the GPO at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee844169(v=ws.10).aspx but that didnt solve it. But it solved it for Remote Assistance. :) Must be some other people that have seen this problem..

Hi, To disable UAC for a test. If it is possible, you may stop the UAC prompts for one particular program you are trying to run. Here are one article and a discussion can be referred to. How do i stop the UAC prompts for one particular program I am trying to run at startup with windows 7? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/81c3c1f2-0169-493a-8f87-d300ea708ecf is there a way of modifying UAC-User Account Control? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprosecurity/thread/8faab170-f590-4543-a57d-4d0be5a2f16e If this issue persists, you may contact Lync forum for assistance.Ivan-Liu TechNet Community Support
