UAC
UAC - Why did Microsoft find it necessary to include this annoying feature with Vista and continue with it into RC 7, surely adding a small piece of code at the instalation process, asking aout the number of users would have been more helpful, 1 = turns OFF uca,2 or more would give you the option of using uca.The way Microsoft has done it, you are stuck with it until you turn it of.....I am one person using one computer.... why do I have to turn this OFF..... and before any comes up with a load of reasons, why this is good... I am not the only person who thinks UCA is very ANNOYING....It is OK for parents/companies who wish to control which program is installed... but for single users......... Secondly .... in RC7 ... is there any way of removing thr Desktop libaries from the TASKBAR ... can't think of a reason why anyone woluld have it there in the first place .... just more CLUTTER .....

Hi,To remove the Libraries from the taskbar, just right click and select "Unpin this program..."Regarding UAC, you can configure the level of "annoyance" by pulling up MSCONFIG -> Tools -> Change UAC Settings -> Launch. My personal opinion over this UAC is, you might not like it, but in general, Win7's UAC is much less annoying and it's almost perfect for me. One software can't be designed to suit everybody, isn't it? :)Jabez Gan [MVP] - http://www.msblog.org Contributing Author for: (Sybex) MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide: Exam 70-643

Hi pappi65As to the 'why' about a component in Windows, nobody here can answer that, only the people who make these decisions can tell you for sure.I think you have some misconceptions about how UAC is designed and exactly what it's functions accomplish. The people who are responsible for these decisions have a couple of websiteswhere you can post comments and ask questions. They do explain the 'why' about many of the components in Windows 7.Engineering Windows 7 : User Account ControlEngineering Windows 7 : User Account Control (UAC) quick updateEngineering Windows 7 : Update on UACEngineering Windows 7 : UAC Feedback and Follow-UpTalking About WindowsTo answer your second question, you can unpin anything that has been pinned to the Taskbar.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Hey: Indeed, UAC can be annoying, but it can be turned off. However I think you may misunderstand part of why it exists. You mention about it just being one user (that is - you!). However, UAC not only warns of operations YOU are going to perform, but also about any apps or processes that may attempt to make a serious change to your computer. For example, if you had a virus or some malware that you were unaware of that attempted to make a change, UAC would also warn you about that. That is the real strength of UAC, not so much as like a parental control but more of an overall administrative friend - there to let you know whats going on rather than in previous versions of Windows, where things could be changed by Malware (or some unconventional install program for example) without you being at all aware. Personally, I turn it off as I feel experienced enough firstly to understand what processes are running on my PC, what the risks are, and how to deal with any issues that may arise. Its a personal choice! That is why it is configurable. If the computer is secured down enough, and user accounts and privileges are defined in a secure way, then UAC can potentially be deemed unnecessary, and so can be turned off reasonably safely. www.stevenmunden.info/candoforyou
