Two screens with different DPIs? How?
Hi, I am using a laptop and an external screen with Extended Desktop. The laptop screen is 15" and the external screen is 26", but the optimal resolution for both of them is 1920x1200. So guess what, either the icons and fonts on the laptop screen are quite tiny, i.e. it is hard to read on it, or the icons and fonts on the external screen are huge. I know that there's the "Make it easier to read what's on your screen" option and also the "Custom DPI setting". However, this always affects the entire desktop, not only one screen. Is it possible to change the DPI just for one screen, i.e. to have different DPIs on two different screens? Thanks a lot!Burnt999

Sounds to me you don't have the right video package, as I can set the DPI indepently of either monitor through the Nvidia Control Panel MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi,First of all, make sure you have the updated display card driver. Tell us the model of your display card.I was wondering which combination cause the icons to be tiny and which to be huge. Have you tired other combination seperately? For some peole, specific DPI will work while others don't.Also you can try disable aero and perform clean boot in case certain software cause conflict with the driver. Refer to KB929135 for detailed steps.

Hi, I have installed the latest ATI drivers along with the Catalyst Control Center. I still want to be running both screens on 1920x1200, but I want to set one screen to 100% (as far as I know 96 pixels per inch) size and the other to 125% (120 pixels per inch) or 150% (like on the page "Make it easier to read what's on your screen").Burnt999

As cdobbs said he can set DPI seperately from Nvidia Control Panel, I would like to know the model of his display card as well as the display card driver version. Likewise, I was wondering if there is option to set different DPI as Neidia control panel did in your Catalyst Control Center. In windows display control panel, there is only one DPI supported when extending desktop.Meanwhile, setting the same resolution 1920x1200 for a laptop screen that is 15 and the external screen 26 will naturally make it hard to recognize. I suggest set each screen with different resolution, say lower resolution for the 15.

Hi, I have Catalyst Control Center installed, but do not see such option can modify the DPI settings. You’d better contact ATI to submit a wish. We hope the next version of Catalyst Control Center can add a feature to modify the DPI settings for individual display. Regards, Arthur Li - MSFT

As there is no option on the control panel to set DPI seperately, and windows only have one option to change them all together, I believe that is it. Workaround this issue by setting different resolution. There are huge difference between the two monitors.

Hmm, ok. Setting different screen resolutions for each monitor is just what I wanted to avoid, because of course it gets fuzzy if you don't use the normal resolution of the screen...Burnt999
