Two of my networked computers can see all the other computers and devices in the network but not each other. Any suggestions? I have a peer to peer network with about 8 devices. Two of my networked computers can see all the other computers and devices in the network but not each other. Both of these computers are Windows 7 Home Prem. The other computers on the network can see and access all of the computers and devices. Any suggestions?

1. There are two aspects: visibility and availability. What you cannot see you can reach (under specific condition). 2. Are all computers in the same workgroup? 3. Use nbtstat to troubleshoot name resolution or network monitor to dig deeper. Regards Milos

Hi, 1. Try to access each other by entering \\computername. 2. Ensure NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on both sides. 1) Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. 2) Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties. 3) Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4 in the list. 4) Click Properties, and then click Advanced. 5) On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to WINS tab. 6) Under NetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK. Hope this helps. Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support

I set the Net BIOS as directed and now on each of the machines I can see the other machines but when I try to navigate to the other machine I get a error message that says "cannot access \\nameofcomputer Check the spelling of the name otherwise there may be something wrong with your network" But when I try to access either computer from the LAN attached computer, I am able to navigate the drives on each computer with no problem. Suggestions? ideas?

Hi, The current situation is that they can see each other, but still fail to access. And there is no problem with the other computers in the same environment, is it right? Have you tested to access another computer by IP address? Also, disable the firewall and anti-virus program to check the result.Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support
