Two bugs when renaming in Explorer and in regedit - anybody can confirm?
Hi again. Again, I hope it is not too late now that RC is out for bugs to get fixed. I have found two very similar bugs in Windows Explorer and regedit. In Windows Explorer, IIRC, if you try to rename a file and you only replace some lower case letters with upper case (or the opposite), that change is applied but not displayed until you refresh. For instance, if you Click on Dummy.txt, then press F2 and rename it to duMMy.txt, after pressing Enter you will still see Dummy.txt until you refresh the window. For some reason, this does not appear to happen if you are inside a library. In regedit it's even worse: if you try to perform such a rename operation, you get an error message. Try renaming myvalue to MyValue, and you will get a message saying that a value with that name already exist. Workaround: rename to something else first and then to the desired name. I haven't got Windows installed right now (corrupted hard disk) so I cannot repeat these steps, but I think I described the correct procedure, and this should still happen with the RC. Can anybody confirm that? Thanks.

I don't see this either. I have the RC, so maybe all of these have been fixed.

Have you tried them both? I am now sure that I posted the correct instructions for regedit since I have just reproduced this bug under XP. But I remember of testing that with the RC. Are you really sure that it doesn't happen?

I just tried the RegEdit issue and it still is there. I didn't try it before. The other 2(renaming files in Save As dialog and renaming using UPPER or lower case as above) I am not seeing. Both appear to be fixed. It is probably too late for something as trivial as the Regedit rename issue to be fixed, UNLESS there is some other issue and there is going to be another another build anyways. There won't be another build for this issue alone.

I think there will be, or I wonder what else they will do from now to the RTM release. ;-) They say that they will do bugfixing on the changes they did from the beta. I hope they will also check other bug reports like this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YlJQXm9W7s See here what I mean. :-) Both are confirmed. You couldn't reproduce it because it only happens in Tiles view (and maybe others too, but not in Details view). YouTube says that the video is still being optimised and that its quality may improve, so don't worry if you can't see very well.

You couldn't pay me enough to watch something on youtube. Again, very low priority issues. If thesewere myonly complaints, then I would say that 7 is good to go.

I also would. But since it's almost certain that they will make other builds, these should be fixed, at least the explorer bug (regedit is used not so often and by not so many people).
