Two Network cards in on PC Window 7

Hi, I upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. On vista I used to run one network card (Intel 82566DC -2 Gigabit) for my internet which was connected to a Dovado USB mobile broadband router connected to a 3g modem. The IP setup on the card is set on DHCP. The second card (3com Ethernet link) was used to connect to our town's local WUG (wireless user group) and all worked fine. Now the problem I have with window 7 is that when I connect to the internet with the (Intel) first card the internet work fine but as soon as I connect the second card to the wug my internet drops. If I then disconnect the first card (internet one) and try to connect to the wug it works. I seems that the two cards are fighting each other. Is there maybe something I can do to fix the problem. As you probably can gather from this post is that I am expert on pc's so please if you do answer do I in simple terms. :) Thanks Martin

wow that looks nasty at the top doesn't it, are you able to edit your post and remove the excess? What are the metrics for the default route, what a minute you said you were an expert but I really think you meant to say you're not. ;) Ok, in this case, my advice is to (are you the IT admin person?) is to consult with your IT group for assistance. Our city uses Vlan's to separate various networks and make them connect to the lan/wan plus several sonicwall hardware firewalls (along with cisco). cdobbs, I have no idee how to edit my post...sorry. Yes what I meant to say is that I am NO it expert :) as you gathered. No I am not a IT person at all. Regarding my post i sort of got the two network cards running on my Window 7 pc. The problem now is that our city's network (WUG) seems to work fine on the one card but my internet net only works sometime. I know this probebly does not make sence but like i said sometimes it work but sometimes not. What i need to try and figure out is to let my pc know that the one card is only for the internet, it seems that sometimes firefox,outlook tries to use the WUG network card and not the one connect to the internet. I this all makes sence..... Thanks Martin

Yep, I'm not sure why you need that arrangement. Unless your city only has less than 50 employees and you have no servers, routers, switches, then I don't see the need for 2 cards. Traffic is routed as needed by the switches/routers being the deciding factor on how traffic is routed. If its internal, then it doesn't go out. Outlook should stay internal unless you are using an external source for managing Exchange, but again, the router in combination with the firewalls will route that traffice. Browers is another matter, if you're accessing internet resources, routers and firewalls come into play depending on your network setup. Where I work, we don't allow anyone to route anything special or circumvent the firewalls or have any unauthorized wireless setups that we don't manage. We have to be able to provide records of anyones activity upon demand (including any and all email/internet traffic). So my suggestion is still to go to your IT department and confer your setup with them.
