Two Bluetooth adapters (built-in plus USB)
In Windows 7, is it possible to have two Bluetooth adapters working at the same time? This comes up in a case where a Bluetooth stereo headset (JayBird #JB-200) and a Bluetooth keyboard (Apple) work fine together, but when a Bluetooth mouse (Apple Magic Mouse or Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000) is added, the audio on the stereo headset cuts out and the mouse stutters. It occurred to me that associating the mouse with a different Bluetooth adapter than the headset and keyboard might solve this. Accordingly, I added a USB Bluetooth adapter (dongle) with a different Bluetooth stack (Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 USB) than used on the the built-in Bluetooth (Apple Broadcom Bluetooth). However, the dongle won't start (error code 10). I used two different stacks because I read the same stack can't be used on more than one radio.

Hi, Thank for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Based on my research, two Bluetooth adaptors can work at same time. In your case, the major problem is the dongle can’t start. I suggest you could test if the new Bluetooth adapter could work in another computer? Meanwhile, the Code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware and device driver issues or to compatibility issues between hardware drivers and additional software that is installed in Windows. Therefore, we recommend that you troubleshoot these issues by focusing on device drivers, on device configuration issues, and on hardware compatibility issues. I recommend you could refer to: Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers Hope it helps. Regards, Alex Zhao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Thanks, Alex, for confirming that two Bluetooth adapters can work at the same time - that was the answer I was looking for. I did test the USB Bluetooth dongle in a another computer, and it does work. I must have the Bluetooth drivers corrupted. A follow-up question is: would it improve performance if the mouse were associated with a different Bluetooth adapter than the headset and keyboard?

Hi, Thank for updating. If the second Bluetooth adapter can work normally on your computer, the mouse should work well, too. But now the second Bluetooth can’t install on your Windows 7 computer. If it is possible, you could check how it works with another Bluetooth adapter. As far as I know, a Bluetooth adapter can support not only three devices. Thanks again for your reply, Alex. I have taken the easy way out on this issue - I installed a RF mouse. Now the Bluetooth stereo headset, the Bluetooth keyboard and the RF mouse all work fine. For the benefit of those who might follow this thread: 1. Your point about two Bluetooth adapters working at the same time is correct - my problem with Code 10 error is due to something I have done incorrectly. I just haven't bothered to get to the bottom of it because I chose to go with the RF mouse. 2. Your statement "a Bluetooth adapter can support not only three devices" is unclear. Did you mean that one Bluetooth adapter can support three devices, or not? 3. It is still unclear if in cases where a combination of a Bluetooth stereo headset, a Bluetooth keyboard, and a Bluetooth mouse don't play well together when all of them are paired to the same Bluetooth adpater, if pairing one of them to a separate Bluetooth adapter would allow all of them to work properly.

Hi, First, I am glad you found a way to solve your problem. In fact, some Bluetooth adapters can pair to several devices, for example, with HP bt500 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter you can connect up to seven different devices to your PC. But there may be interfere issue.
