Two (maybe related?) problems with Pegatron H36Y notebook PC.
Hey, so lately, for whatever unknown reason, my laptop has stopped performing two functions. To start off I'll tell you what laptop it is. It's a Pegatron H36Y notebook PC running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. I came to this forum because after looking
all over the web I couldn't find any help, and it seems Pegatron decided not to provide support documents to its customers. Anyways, the problems are (1) Whenever I put the laptop in sleep mode or reboot the wireless has to be switched back on with the Fn+F2
combination every time I log back in, in order to connect to a LAN. (2) The Fn+Fx buttons used to bring up an on-screen display that displayed what the different Fn options would do. Both of these problems are more annoying than necessary to be fixed but it
would be great if someone could please help me out because it's been bugging me. I've seen plenty of other forums and websites with information on both topics but neither are specific to my laptop and none of them have helped out yet. I'm hoping someone on
these forums might have better info on these particular problems. Thank you!

Hi,
For you first problem, do you mean that you must disable the wireless adapter to connect to LAN?
If so, I would like to suggest you take the following steps to check how it works:
1.
Go to Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> services> WLAN Autoconfig, set startup type of this service as Manually.
2.
Change the order of LAN network protocol bindings:

Regarding the second issue, the function should be related to the manufacturer software, it is recommended to consult Pegatron directly, as we cannot provide further
assistance regarding a third-party product.
Hope it helps.

First off, thank you for your help! And for the first problem I meant that I have to enable it to connect to the LAN. Everytime I logged in there used to be an indicator on my laptop near a wireless symbol that lights up in orange. Recently it has not turned
on, and the light remains off. Therefore I have to use Fn+F2 to turn it on, which I guess is turning on wireless. If I don't do this I can't see any networks to connect to, but once I turn it on, it discovers all of the nearby networks so I can then connect
to one.

As for the second problem I will try to contact Pegatron.
Again, thanks for responding!

Hi,
We can
turn power management features on or off to check how it works:
1.
Open Network and Sharing Center (click the Start button, type
Network and Sharing in the Start Search box, and press Enter).
2.
Click the
Change adapter settings link in the upper left of the navigation pane.
3.
Right click the network connection you want to enable/disable power management support on and click
Properties.
4.
Click
Configure.
5.
On the
Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
If this issue persists, I would like to suggest you boot into
Clean Boot
mode to see if this issue still exists. And please update the wireless NIC driver to the latest version.
Meanwhile, you could refer to the following article:
You may experience connectivity issues or performance
issues when you connect a mobile PC that is running Windows Vista or Windows 7 to a wireless access point
Hope it helps.
